I’m Simon…
I grew up in Denmark, playing competitive junior tennis in Europe before joining a Division I college tennis team in the United States. I traveled for professional tournaments until my inner student yearned for more learning, which led me to a graduate program at the University of Colorado Boulder. While running a local high-performance tennis academy, I discovered a true passion for coaching during my time with ambitious young people. What draws me to coaching is the endless pursuit of personal growth, and the mental and physical challenges that naturally arise in this pursuit. Learning to enjoy overcoming the challenges, and recognizing that solutions often translate to life as well, is the most rewarding part of the process. My approach is grounded in performance psychology, and I firmly believe tennis is a microcosm of life. Developing your game should be an enjoyable and empowering process, and ultimately build confidence that transcends beyond the tennis court.
I spend most of my time coaching tennis in Los Angeles. My players are primarily artists, musicians, and creatives in the entertainment industry who all share a love for the game.
As any coach can probably relate to, my role sometimes bleeds into therapist territory, and I also find myself feeling like a field researcher, studying human behavior and the effects of play. These experiences translate into writing in various publications.
My extensive experience on the tennis court has allowed me to understand the creative capturing of the sport as well, enabling me to consult and direct creative productions for all types of brands and large budget motion pictures wherein tennis-related movement is involved.
